Lord Eatwell (Keynote speaker)
Chairman of Jersey Financial Services Commission, President of Queens' College and emeritus Professor of financial policy at the University of Cambridge

Lord Eatwell is president of Queens’ College and emeritus professor of financial policy, University of Cambridge. From 1985 to 1992, John Eatwell served as economic adviser to Neil Kinnock, leader of the British Labour Party. In 1992 he entered the House of Lords and from 1993 to 1997 was Principal Opposition Spokesman on Treasury and Economic Affairs, a position he resumed in 2010. In 2009 he became a member of the House of Lords’ Economic Affairs Committee. He has been a teaching fellow at Harvard University and is a visiting professor at Columbia University, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and the University of Amsterdam. He was a member of the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the Financial Services Authority from 2001 until 2006. He is Chairman of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

   

David Jackman
Fellow (Visiting) of Cambridge Judge Business School, Author of ‘The Compliance Revolution’

An exceptional visionary and innovator who has changed the shape of regulation and standard setting. David Jackman is an international authority on business maturity, ethics, governance, sustainability and outcomes-based regulation and has created new ideas and set new directions that have affected entire industries and international norms. 

Operating at the highest level with those who genuinely understand critical human challenges and are committed to forging exciting and cutting edge solutions, David is committed to translating vision into everyday community practice and enrichment.  He has developed across many situations a clear direction and set of connected methodologies which translate between environments and add value in the most fundamental ways.

David has recently published his ground breaking textbook, The Compliance Revolution that encourages a responsible, ethical and sustainable approach to business, providing the space for organisations to find their own integrity, authenticity and purpose. Integrating compliance culture, ethics, good governance, sustainability and community in a new way, to build a coherent and transformational values-led culture.

David has a double distinction in Education from Cambridge University and an MA from Oxford University.

   

John Harris,
Director General of the Jersey Financial Services Commission

John Harris was appointed the Director General of the Commission on 6 November 2006 and subsequently joined the Board of Commissioners on 1 March 2007. From 2002 to 2006, John Harris held the position of Director - International Finance in the States of Jersey Chief Minister’s Department where he had responsibility for all aspects of the government’s policy on the maintenance and enhancement of Jersey’s position as an international finance centre. From 1998 to 2002 he was Chief Executive Officer for NatWest Offshore with responsibility for offices in Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Gibraltar, Cayman, Bermuda and the Bahamas. He spent 22 years working for NatWest Bank during which time he held management positions in France, Switzerland and Singapore amongst others.

   

Richard Corrigan
Deputy Chief Executive at Jersey Finance

As Deputy CEO of Jersey Finance Richard leads an international team promoting Jersey as a well-regulated, internationally co-operative financial centre. He has wide-ranging experience of international markets from his earlier career in banking where he led coverage teams in the Gulf, Greater China, South East Asia and North America. Richard joined Jersey Finance in 2012 from Barclays Bank plc where he was most recently a Director in the Wealth & Investment Management division. A qualified banker, Richard managed business units and high-value clients within international corporate banking and wealth management businesses. He worked with a wide range of clients at Barclays and previously at Royal Bank of Scotland Group where he was latterly Regional Director, Financial Institutions Group.
   

Wiliam Amos
Partner at PwC

William is a partner at PwC London focusing on regulatory and conduct issues across the financial sector. Before joining PwC in summer 2015, William held several senior positions at the UK financial services regulator. From 2013 he was the Director responsible for wholesale firms. This portfolio covered investment banks, exchanges and asset managers. A significant part of this role was developing and implementing the FCA approach to wholesale conduct. Prior to this, William led the Enforcement department which took action against the largest firms. This covered delivering some of the highest profile work undertaken by the regulator including Libor, producing the report into the failure of RBS and delivering the investigations into banks which failed during the financial crisis. William began his career as an economist at the Bank of England.
   

Nuno Santos-Costa
Senior Partner at Collas Crill

Nuno Santos-Costa is Collas Crill’s joint senior partner and the Channel Island head of dispute resolution. Nuno specialises in all aspects of commercial litigation, including trust cases, fraud and asset tracing claims and heavyweight commercial disputes. He has appeared in many substantial Jersey cases including acting as senior Jersey counsel for the first defendant in the Alhamrani trusts litigation, Jersey’s biggest ever litigation dispute. Nuno is also a Crown Advocate and has appeared in numerous high-profile criminal cases on behalf of the Attorney General. He was appointed a relief magistrate in 2009.
   

Sally Scutt
Strategic Advisor at the International Compliance Association (ICA)
and former Deputy Chief Executive of the British Bankers’ Association

Sally Scutt joined the ICA as Strategic Advisor, focussing on regulatory matters and strengthening the association’s links with industry and key international bodies. Sally has more than 30 years’ experience in international and private banking. Most recently she was Deputy Chief Executive of the British Bankers’ Association and Managing Director of the International Banking Federation. She has been a member of a number of government committees in relation to financial crime matters and was Chairman of the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group (JMLSG) which manages and develops industry guidance on the implementation of AML and other crime-related law and regulation.

   

Jenny New
Director at Barclays

Jenny is a Director within the Personal and Corporate Banking Compliance function within Barclays managing the Compliance function across the Offshore business. She leads the Compliance teams which operate in Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Gibraltar and Cyprus. Jenny commenced her career with Barclays in 1983 and has specialised in regulatory compliance for the last 13 years.

Jenny holds a BA (Hons) degree in Financial Services, is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments holding the Investment Advice Certificate and a Fellow of the International Compliance Association holding the Compliance Diploma. Jenny is also a member of the Jersey Compliance Officers Association.
